The first edition of the Student Forum brought together over 100 students and youth activists from North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, and Bulgaria, creating a regional space for dialogue on the state of education.
Throughout the Forum, participants engaged in plenary discussions and thematic workshops addressing everyday challenges, declining quality, and the structural deterioration of public universities.
National Student Body
Unites 7 public universities into a single national platform to advocate for student interests.
Student Rights Charter
Introduces 68 additional rights, complementing the 15 already enshrined in national law.
Student Forum Resolution
Defines advocacy priorities and institutional engagement strategies for the period ahead.
Regional Cooperation Network
A permanent space for dialogue between students from MK, AL, KS, RS, and BG to solve shared issues.
The first edition of the Student Forum was held on 8–9 March 2024 in Skopje, North Macedonia, marking a milestone for student organizing and representation in the country. The Forum brought together over 100 students and youth activists from North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, and Bulgaria, creating a regional space for dialogue on the state of higher education.
Throughout the Forum, participants engaged in plenary discussions, thematic sessions, and workshops addressing students’ everyday challenges, declining education quality, and the structural deterioration of public universities across the region. The 2024 edition was particularly significant for its long-term impact. During the Forum, the National Student Body (NSB) was formally established, uniting student representatives from seven public universities into a single national platform mandated to advocate for student interests in North Macedonia.
In addition, key normative and policy documents were adopted. The Student Rights Charter was approved, expanding the existing legal framework by introducing 68 additional student rights, complementing the 15 rights currently enshrined in the Law on Higher Education. A Student Forum Resolution was also adopted and formally mandated to the National Student Body, defining advocacy priorities and institutional engagement for the period ahead.
